Simple - Attention to detail. Even though floor manufacturers have done
much to improve the realism of laminate floors, a quality look is
enhanced by attention to details. Things like how the sub-floor is prepared, the way the laminate fits under
door jams, transitions into another room, and even the way shoe
moldings are installed. We are devoted to details!
Things to Consider When Getting An Estimate
You'll find that many times a home improvement store or installation company will run specials where you can get your laminate installed for as little as $1.00 per square foot. We've even seen ads on Craigslist that claim they'll install flooring for $0.89 a square foot. However, to ensure there are no surprises when you have your laminate installed be sure to ask if these things are included in the price:
- Furniture removal/replacement. Some retailers/installers may charge you to remove (and then
move back) the furniture in the areas of installation.
- Demolition/disposal of old floor covering. Depending on the existing floor covering,
this can be an expensive item; also, be sure to include the cost to dispose of the
old floor covering.
- Sub-floor preparation. Depending on the condition of the sub-floor, it may require
additional work. Make sure you get consultation on this.
- Product delivery. Delivering the laminate and installation materials to your home
may or may not be included in the price you’re quoted.
- All materials required to complete the installation. Your new laminate flooring may
require additional materials to install it properly. Materials should include: Floor leveling compound, Moisture barrier (if on a concrete slab), underlayment if not already attached to the laminate itself, the laminate, and some form of shoe molding or new baseboard depending on the installation.
